Summary
Newsmast App is the React Native companion to Newsmast, running on the same decentralized, Mastodon-powered backend and started alongside it. As on the web, I worked on API integration and business logic, and helped migrate the codebase off a mixed React + Ruby setup onto a pure React (Native) stack so the front-end team could work across both web and mobile without needing Ruby knowledge. Built with React Native, TypeScript, Zustand, Tanstack Query, and Tailwind CSS.
What I Worked On
- API integration with the same Mastodon-powered backend used by the Newsmast web app.
- Implemented core business logic shared with the Newsmast web platform.
- Migrated the codebase from React + Ruby to a pure React Native stack.
